Digital Replantation

Abstract

|
The first successful case of replantation of a completely amputated digit with microvascular anastomosis was reported by Komatsu & Tamai(1968). In Korea, digital replantation was started since 1970's. With the advancement of suture materials and
techniques, we can successfully replant not only clean Gillotine amputation but also mild crush amputation. But the functional result of the replanted digit was not always good and there was some controversies whether all of the amputated digit
should
be replanted or not. The author has done digital replantation since last 1988. This is the result of the 73 cases which was followed more than 6 months and an average 3 years and 2 months.
